Surrey Easter Congress — 1992

Central Library, Sutton · 17–20 April 1992 · SCCA prize winners sheet

About the 1992 Congress

The Surrey Easter Chess Congress 1992 was held at the Central Library, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, Surrey, from 17 to 20 April 1992.

The Frank Winter Memorial Open was FIDE rated and attracted 77 competitors. Andrew Kinsman of Wimbledon won with 6½/7 and was also the Southern Counties Individual Champion.

The printed report notes that 423 players took part across seven tournaments. Although this was fewer than the previous year, the organisers regarded the entry as satisfactory because of competition from the new congress in Walsall, and noted that the Open contained 26 FIDE-rated players.
