About the 1994 Congress
The Surrey Easter Congress 1994 was held at Sutton Central Library from 1–4 April 1994. The congress reached a new record entry of 522 players across seven tournaments, exceeding the previous best totals recorded in 1992 and 1991.
The Frank Winter Memorial Open was FIDE-rated and attracted 93 competitors. Michael Basman won the Open with 6½/7, ahead of Andrew Kinsman on 6/7.
