Notes
- The London League was instituted 1887.
- The Croydon & District League was formed in 1920, by teams originally competing in the Surrey Trophy and Beaumont Cup.
- The Thames Valley League began around 1947, and included clubs from Middlesex and Surrey (later Berkshire).
- The Waechter Shield clubs formed the Surrey/Hants Border League in 1961, including Hampshire clubs who had also played in the Surrey League.
- The 4NCL (4 Nations Chess League) began in 1993, and included teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
